In February 2024, we announced that we will be building our electric vehicle manufacturing facility in Somerset on the Gravity Smart Campus. We want to work with and listen to our new neighbours, so over the coming weeks and months we will be sharing updates on our plans, and hosting community events for you to join.

Learn more about our plans

May 3, 2024

Over the last week we have hosted a series of exhibitions for local residents. At these events we have provided information about our investment in a state-of-the-art battery facility which will contribute almost half of the projected battery manufacturing capacity required for the UK automotive sector by 2030. The exhibition outlined how the battery facility will take shape, the technology behind the electric car batteries that will be produced, and what sort of jobs will be on offer.

As part of the events, we had display boards detailing all the information, these boards are also available to view here.

If you would like to provide feedback on the plans, you can complete a short survey here.

SOMERSET FACILITY

April 25, 2024

Somerset will be home to our new multi-billion-pound electric vehicle battery manufacturing facility in the UK. Our gigafactory will be on the Gravity Smart Campus near Bridgwater.

To realise the transformative potential of the gigafactory, we will work closely with local and regional partners, including Somerset Council, Bridgwater and Taunton College, and the wider Gravity Smart Campus, to deliver bespoke education and training programmes in the region, creating local jobs for local people.

The factory itself will create up to 4,000 new high-skilled green tech jobs in the area, with many thousands more expected to be created in the UK supply chain.

Community – First Approach

April 25, 2024

Tom Flack, CEO, Agratas, said: “Agratas is bringing state-of-the-art technology to Somerset, helping to supercharge Britain’s transition to electric mobility whilst creating thousands of jobs in the process.

“We care deeply about the communities we operate in, so it’s imperative to us that we work with, and listen to, our new neighbours as we build our factory in Somerset.”
